Our class used this week to learn about fire safety and prevention in social studies. At the beginning of the week, we read a story called STOP, DROP, and ROLL. In the book, students discovered how important it is to be prepared for any situation involving fire and what steps you need to take to keep safe. Later in the week, students were able to make a booklet highlighting the important fire safety rules. On Thursday, the class had a visit from the Hudsonville Fire Department. Students were able to learn from real fire fighters and see what a fire truck looks like, up close. Also, students were able to experience a fire safety trailer that simulated what it would feel like to be in a room with smoke and how to get out safely. The kids really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you, Hudsonville Fire Department!
