Our second week of school went by as fast as the first. I'm so impressed with the effort and attitude of all of my first grade students. The kids are learning so many new routines and procedures that it has to be hard on them. From remembering how to come into the classroom each morning to packing up mail at the end of the day, these kids are learning how to work together and help each other out. Don't get me wrong, we've had our struggles. But, I've told the children to remember that effort and attitude mean the most to me.
Finally, we wrapped up the week by putting together "Our Classroom & School Promise". This is a set of rules our class has promised to try to follow throughout the school year. These rules are the same as the district guidelines for student conduct for the 2019-2020 school year called SOAR. As a class, we've talked a lot about what we needed our classroom to be like and how that would help us learn the best. I'm sending home a letter, and a copy of the promise, with your child's mail today. Please take a minute to go through these items with your son or daughter. If you have any questions about any of it, please let me know.
