It has been easy to see that all of my students have similarities and differences. Each child possesses qualities and traits that make him/her a unique individual. As my students' teacher, it is extremely important that I understand this fact and make sure I provide every child with the resources they need to be successful at school. One way I want to help my students accomplish this is by learning how to be a leader. This week we began discussing the idea of being a leader, and what that would look like here at school. To show students what it means to be a true leader, I've decided to use The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. This book, written by Sean Covey, uses lively animal characters to teach children the key components of basic leadership. The 7 habits discussed are...
- Be Proactive (Responsibility)
- Begin With The End In Mind (Set Goals)
- Put First Things First (Organization)
- Think Win-Win (Problem Solving)
- Seek To Understand And Then Be Understood (Listening & Communication)
- Synergize (Teamwork)
- Sharpen The Saw (Balance)
